Colorado gets it first Ironman Champ11 Dec 2017

One of the toughest high school national tournament start competition 12/ 8 in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio at Walsh Jesuit High School. The Walsh Jesuit Ironman wrestling tournament has 94 teams represented from across the nation which brings the best in the county to this small town in Ohio. Some teams are a full squad of 14 wrestlers while other teams are just invited individuals that are ranked nationally or at the top of the state ranking. The top 10 teams are Blair Academy, NJ; St. John Bosco, CA; Wyoming Seminary, PA; St. Paris Graham, Ohio; Montini Catholic, Ill; Lak Highland Prep, FL; St. Edwards, Ohio; Broken Arrow, OK; Allen, TX; and Christiansburg, VA; all will be battling it out for the top team honors.
Colorado has five teams sending individuals to wrestle, they are Air Academy (1), Castle View (3), Grand Junction (1), Ponderosa (3) and Pomona (3). The primarily Colorado wrestlers seeding before weigh-ins are done: #13 Wyatt Yapoujian, Pomona; 120 lbs - #3 Malik Heinselman, Castle View, #10 Justin Pacheco, Pomona; 138 lbs – #16 Colton Yapoujian, Pomona; 145 lbs - #16 Dylan Martinez, Grand Junction; 160 lbs - #12 Parker Benekas, Ponderosa; 182 lbs - #6 Tate Samuelson, Castle View; 195 lbs – # 7 Jayden Woodruff, Ponderosa; and 285 lbs - #2 Cohlton Schultz, Ponderosa.
Going into day 2, Colorado has four wrestlers in the quarterfinals provided by two team Castle View and Ponderosa; 120 lbs Malik Heinselman, and 182 lbs Tate Samuelson from Castle View; 195 lbs Jayden Woodruff and 285 lbs Cohlton Schutlz from Ponderosa. Still alive in the consi rounds were 145 lbs Dylan Martinez, Grand Junction; 138 lbs Colton Yapoujian, Pomona and his teammate Justin Pacheco at 120 lbs.
